Online Workshops

All workshops are online via Zoom. Most (if not all) of the workshops have recordings available for a period of time after the live session. NEW! A gallery of photographs of my models from all my online workshops is now posted at the bottom of this page.

Stephanie has offered workshops online via Zoom through a variety of organizations: the Jaffe Center for Book Arts, Maine Media Workshops & College, AVA Gallery & Art Center, Creative Arts Workshop, the Morgan ConservatoryCanadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild, San Diego Book Arts, and Kalamazoo Book Arts Center. See below for descriptions of current classes and links to registration. Please get in touch if you are interested in having her teach for your group.

I am taking a break from teaching this summer, but will be back this Fall 2022. My last two workshops until then are listed here.

Online Workshops through Jaffe Center for Book Arts at Florida Atlantic University:

• Circular (Toroidal) Accordion on Thursday June 2, 2022, 5-7:30 pm, Eastern Time

A circle? A donut? A torus! Whatever you think of when you see this accordion, the shape has lots of fun possibilities for content, which we’ll discuss. When open, it’s donut-shaped, when folded up it’s a wedge—like a piece of pie without the tip. We’ll draw out the form, cut and fold, and make a simple wrapper. Our focus will be on making a model that participants can use as reference for making more after the workshop. No advanced math is required, but a drawing compass is. To register:

Geometric Accordions: Pentagonal, Octagonal, and Circular on Sunday June 5, 1-4 pm, Eastern Time

This workshop covers the folding of three unusual and non-rectangular accordions: a pentagonal book that can zig-zag or unfold, an octagonal accordion, and a circular/toroidal accordion. We’ll concentrate on accurate folding and go over some of the basic geometry to understand how these forms work. Covers and wrapper options will also be addressed. Our focus will be on making models that participants can use as reference after the workshop. These forms rely on the folding rather than the hinging of paper. NOTE: This workshop has been previously taught as More Unusual Accordions. No advanced math is required, but a drawing compass is. Participants will need to print out (or otherwise make) a template sent prior to class. To register:
